It’s hard sometimes, isn’t it? You’re going along, doing your thing, and then, out of nowhere, someone’s got something to say. It’s like they can’t stand the fact that you’re just out here living, so they try to drag you down into their mess. And yeah, it stings. It’s not like you’re made of stone. Those words stick; like burrs in your socks after a walk through the brush.
But here’s the thing: their negativity isn’t about you. It’s about them. They’ve got their own battles, their own baggage, and for whatever reason, they feel the need to offload it onto you. It doesn’t make it right or fair, but it’s the truth.
You can’t control what they say or how they act. You’ve got no power over that. But what you can control is how you let it settle into your bones. It’s tough, yeah, especially when you’re tired – when life’s already got you on your knees, and then here comes someone kicking dirt in your face. It’s easy to want to curl up, to let those words sink in like they’re gospel.
But here’s where you’ve got to dig deep. You’ve got to remind yourself that you’re not here for their approval. You’re not living this life to fit into their narrow little boxes. You’ve got your own path, your own story, and no one else gets to write it but you. Let their words pass through you, like wind through a field. Let them rattle the leaves but not uproot the tree.
It’s not about pretending it doesn’t hurt. It’s about standing up, time and time again, even when it does. You’re stronger than you think, and there’s a light in you that no amount of shadow can dim. So let them talk. Let them throw their stones. You are more than their words. You’re more than their doubts and their anger and their bitterness. You’re every choice you made to keep going, every time you decided to be better when it would’ve been easier to just give up.
You can’t control the mouths that move, but you sure as hell can control the steps you take.
You just keep going. You’re doing fine.
